Enrolling in Benefits
Benefits coverage for full-time employees begins on the first day of the month following 30 days from date of hire.
Eligible Dependents
When you enroll yourself in medical, dental, and/or vision coverage, you may also cover your eligible dependents, including:
- Your legal spouse or qualified domestic partner
- Children under the age of 26, regardless of student, dependency or marital status
- Children who are past the age of 26 and are fully dependent on you for support due to a mental or physical disability and who are indicated as such on your federal tax return
Making Changes After Open Enrollment
After Open Enrollment ends, you cannot change your benefits and will have to wait until the next Open Enrollment—unless you experience a Qualified Life Event (such as marriage, birth, or loss of coverage).
Common Qualified Life Events Include
- Marriage
- Welcoming a new child
- Loss of coverage
- Leave of absence
- Loss or change in employment
Life Event Instructions
Qualifying Events allow you to make changes to your benefit elections. Examples are the birth/adoption of a child, marriage, divorce, a dependent that needs coverage or needs to be removed from your plan because they lost coverage or are eligible through another plan. This change needs to happen within 30 days of the event date or else you will need to wait until Open Enrollment to make a change.
- Login to UKG.
- Under Myself, select Benefits and then select Manage my Benefits.
- Click on Update my Benefits.
- Select the Life Event reason and enter the Event Date. This is the date your coverage will be updated. If you are adding a new dependent, it would be the date of birth, adoption, marriage, etc. Hit Continue.
- Review or edit your basic information and select Next: Review My Family.
- If applicable, select Add Family Member.
- Enter the dependent’s basic information:
- First and Last Name
- SSN – If you don’t have it yet, you can come back and update your dependent’s profile later.
- Gender
- Birth Date
- Relationship
- Select Save.
- You will now see your new dependent listed under Current Family Members. Select Next: Shop for Benefits.
- All your benefit options will show with an option to View or Change. Review all benefits to make sure they are accurate. You will need to change each plan to include your new dependent. Each family member will be listed but please check the box for coverage next to your new dependent. If you have moved to a different coverage tier, you will see an updated rate change, which reflects your new cost once the life event is approved. On each benefit, select Update Cart once you enrolled the new dependent.
- After you have reviewed all benefits, select Review & Confirm at the bottom of your Benefit Summary page. You will once again be able to review your cost and coverage level before you confirm your elections.
- Once completed, you will see Your To-Do List on your Confirmation page. You will need to supply documentation as a reason for the change. For a new dependent, upload the birth certificate. Your Life event change will not be approved until the required documentation is received.
